Dear Member of the Panel,

First, we would like to thank you for your participation in our study.

Because of a technical issue, you should have received two letters, each of them including one compensation for the same study.

We would like you to send us back, via the post, this duplicate compensation to the following address:

Ive just got exactly the same email too. bit cheeky expecting us to pay the postage for their mistake.

think Ill email them and ask them to send me a reply paid envelope and see what they say :)

I used to think they were a really professional company until a recent email when they were trying to get us to sign up to another site (think it was ac neilson) which required you to download some software. Pinecone made it all sound innocent until you looked at the terms and conditions on the other site and it said you were agreeing to them being able to look at all your transactions online inluding bank details and passwords:eek:

Not decided what I'll do yet

Did the email say "household questions"? Because if it did, it means it's just a short questionnaire and you won't get paid for it but it might lead to an invitiation for a proper study. :)

Was actually going to say, we know this company don't like being discussed on open forums, so should we maybe change the title of the thread to something a bit more cryptic, and also avoid mentioning the company name in the actual posts?

I was wondering if anyone had the initial email from Pinecone. I have applied several times over the last few months and have heard nothing. Or at least I think I havent. I get a huge amount of junk emails that are filtered and although I have setup rules etc, good emails still get sent into the junk emails. I do search them, but I just wanted to know if someone had one, then I could set up a proper rule from the email address they send the inital welcome from, then I wont miss it when or if I ever get in!

I'd be really grateful, for any help!

Yes I've got my survey mail filtering into inbox folders so things dont go missing. Have you tried installing mailwasher? Everything that is junk or blacklisted shows as red and its easy to pick out the stray ones that should actually be on the friends list

Don't quote me on this but I'm sure I've read it somewhere (probably MSE) that it is not classed as an income. I'm self-employed and certainly do not declare my survey pennies on my tax return

The paid ones end in 1001

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

I had the email about 2 pinecone vouchers mistake. Prior to that I was on about 1- 4 surveys a month/upto 1 a week!

Since the email, which I replied to saying I had already spent them, I had one survey which I did (a full survey not a test one) and did not get paid anything for. But nothing sionce that.

Am I blacklisted?? has anyone else been blacklisted/thinks they have been blacklisted? its been months no with nothing, not even an unpaid short household type survey.

Scottishnellie

I was same as you - emailed to say I'd spent them.

I had only just joined and had only completed one survey for them when they duplicated the vouchers. But since telling them I'd spent them, I've had one survey I wasn't paid for. Then one survey I was paid for, which was followed up by being sent a product I'm now trialing and will have to do another survey once I've used it all.

So I'd say you're not blacklisted, as I would have been too yet I have been getting more from them.

If you haven't had anything from them for such a long time it might be worth emailing them. I somehow dropped off their system a year or so ago and it was months before I noticed - when I emailed I started getting jobs again.

Also, it would be wise not to chat too much about them on this forum - they are VERY VERY strict about idle 'chat'. Somebody on another Board that I use for MS work found this out to her cost - it wasn't justified and it was very unpleasant.

Tell me to mind my own busuness if you like - but Pinecone get REALLY shirty when they are discussed on various websites. There was absolute hell up a year or so ago when somebody posted something on a fairly small 'invitation only' forum. It was all done with the best of intentions but somebody with an axe to grind pointed the post out to Pinecone and the upshot was that somebody innocent actually got kicked off the Pinecone list. It got VERY unpleasant.

Think very carefully before you mention Pinecone - they are extremely keen on remaining very private. Great company though if you can get onto them.

I think they prefere you to send links privately via pm etc and not to post on public forums. As has been said above if they find out who is posting on public forums they have been know to ban people.

Great company though if you can get onto them.

you are right, I have therefore removed the thread

A reminder to everyone
please do not post Pinecone links
Thank you

They are asking me to download ArtistScope’s CopySafe Web plug-in.
Has anyone else done this?
I've not heard of it before and wonder if it's safe.
I'm a bit wary of Pinecone ever since they wanted people to download something from Nielsen that tracked everything you did on the PC.

Damm, I didnt know it could a tracking thing.
I thought it was just something to view pictures?
I think the words Nielsen did show on my screen.

I think it is just something to view pictures mutley. I don't want to alarm you because I know nothing about it and because I'm such a dinosaur I just wanted to get opinions on it.
There is a link between Nielsen and Pinecone and there may not have been a problem with the previous download just people being a bit wary.

I might be wrong but I think PC and Nielsen have merged somehow? The last couple of times I've done a PC survey the web address said Nielsen something.

That's not a problem in itself, but like you said Tiger, I wasn't keen on that other tracking download thing they tried to get people to do. :nono:

This picture one sounds ok though? But yeah, I'm not very techie so I dunno!

Any more verdicts on this please? Anyone downloaded and then run a spyare/antivirus check afterwards just to be on the safe side?

What happens if we dont, now will they know if we have not done it? It says to log in afterwards for a survey ????

I downloaded it, when you go to survey it just says Thank you for downloading it.
Hubby ran norton & avg afterwards and found nothing

Mamzie

Until you have it running it just sends you back to the install page, and also offers other ways to install it if it hasn't worked. then when you are actually running it, you get thanked for installing it and the survey is marked as completed, so I guess then they just record who completes the installation of not.

My pc seems fine since I added it.

Well I didn't download this software - I just thought it was too much of a risk. I thought that would be the end of Pinecone for me, which was a shame because it's one of the better survey companies.

However a week later I received 2 surveys, but the following day I received a reminder about downloading the software. So I thought that was the end of it.

But today I received another survey and I completed it ok, so maybe lots of people haven't installed the plug-in. There are warnings about it on MSE and on an American Form, Annika's newsletter. While many people have no problems, there are lots who have had problems with it. And it seems to be a problem to uninstall.

Also its right by the river so you get a good view from this Yates

Yates very lacking around here so its a bit of a novely for us.
