View Full Version : 500 extra points with shop and scan

dune

just signed up for the shop and scan program.
Looks ok but its only by invite
You scan your shopping and transfer the details back every week over the internet. You get paid in high street vouchers
Maybe worth having a go in you get an invite. This is through tns so if you're a member of TNS then you might get the call.

will report back if anyone is interested.

I do this. It's only a small return for the effort involved, but the vouchers are handy. I get the occasional survey from them which helps to boost my points total.

I forgot to mention that you need to log in through internet explorer to transmit the codes as the scanner doesn't work with firefox.

Yes I do this too, as Tiger said it is only £1 a week, but it soon mounts up - got nearly £50 in my account now, I am saving up till Christmas and get Argos vouchers or the like.

I do this too. My 3 year old loves scanning everything:D
As well as the few surveys they pay £3 for 3 weeks over christmas. Not loads but as you say it all helps. I started in August and have about £60 saved

I claim my vouchers as soon as I have enough points and then put them all away for Christmas or in case I need a large item I can't afford.
I'm like Scrooge, counting my hoard of vouchers from various sources. :heh:

I do this too, and the best thing is they have NEXT vouchers. (My survey company don't have next anymore). Every month and a bit, I get £10 in NEXT vouchers. Is a bit of a pain, but can be quite addictive. Monaed at poor Hb yesterday because whilst was busy looking at new GET ACTIVE vouchers, he had put the shopping away before I had scanned it!

They'll never know....

That's what I think, when something gets missed. As long as I have something to scan and submit, I'll get the points. :)
Things get missed most weeks in our house because it's supposed to be for the family and my sons don't always bother letting me know if they've bought something. I had an email once to remind me. I usually have to grab empty packets off them when they throw them away so I can scan the barcode.

They do look very closely at your shopping habits - once I bought loads of baby items to make a basket for my friend who is expecting, and they emailed me to ask if we'd had a new addition to the family as I was buying nappies and the like.

I would like to do this. How can I obtain an invitation code?

tiger
13th April 2007, 09:54
I had some invitations to send out, but it was a long time ago and at the time I think it was for people over 60.
I'll send them an email and ask about it.

I can't do 60 - but I am ready scared of 50!

I do another one with TNS called consumer pulse. It sounds similar but I have to input the details on line. I got invited as I do telephone surveys with TNS but in 2 weeks, I've claimed £20 of vouchers. It's 500 points per item you input up to a maximum of 20 per month plus a weekly check in of 500 points plus surveys which are up to 5000 points. 10000 points is worth £10.

im a shop & scanner

been doin it for abouit 2 years now.

The rewards arnt fantastic but you do get £10 to start i think then £1 a week, it does add up and its not too bad to do just scan as i unpack the bags.

I keep mine for christmas then cash in for argos vouchers to get pressys for the kids it all helps.

:)

My OH does the shop and scan, and I do NSM (National shopping monitor) both with tns. For the nsm you have a palm pilot thingy and you just scan which shop, enter total spend, then scan all the barcodes. You have to send the receipts off in freepost envelopes.

I get 500pts per month for receipts, and ?000pts (I've forgotten how many) for scanning each week. You have to have a 'base' plugged in to a power supply 'at all times' and your phone line then connects to the base. Once you get used to it it's quite quick, and I currently have about 580,000 points which is worth £580 in your choice of voucher from a large selection (in £10 increments)

OH also does this texting thing with tns (his 10,000pts (£10) a week) get added to my nsm account. He just sends texts to a given number saying what things from a given list (sweets, crisps, sarnies etc) that he has bought, how much, where from etc. It costs him 10p per text, but he receives £1 per text, so a nice 90p profit each time. You have a limit of 40 txts a month, so that's £40 income for a £4 outlay, and he always makes sure he's got his 40 txts done:)

Once we joined up to the first thing, we just seemed to get invites in the post for the other stuff, I'll have to have a look see if we can invite/refer people or not.

So all in all we've not done too badly from tns over the past few years - also get the nectar points for their internet surveys.

I've made a bit of a balls up :juggle: (best smilie I could find - dare not look for cock up!) last night, can't blame alcohol so will have to say it's the pregnancy hormones again!

OH does IScan by ACNeilson (very similar to shop and scan). He uses the same little 'clicker', but only has to scan sarnies, crisps, sweets, savoury bits etc etc, and has a little thing of barcodes to scan. He then uploads this every week and gets £1 a week to spend on a choice of vouchers or online shops eg Amazon. He can't do the shop and scan as i do nsm, and it's practiacally the same thing, but you get more for nsm.

I now have the sheet in front of me, and this is what you get:

5,000pts monthly reward (for each month you scan) (x12)
750p monthly reward for sending in till receipts (x12)
40,000p annual bonus after 12 months continual service from your joining
anniversary (x1)
7,000 xmas bonus if you scan from 28/11 - 28/01 (x1)
1,750 media questionnaire (x2)
500 check household details (x1)

Giving you a possible total of 120,000 a year which equals £120 available in a variety of vouchers eg virgin, arcadia, argos, next, thomas cook, kingfisher, etc. Plus, if you can do the texting thing, you also get the 10,000 a week into the same account (it's done by household), it really adds up quickly. You can apply on line, phone or by post in a minimum ammount of £10 per voucher, so you can mix and match.

If you can swap to nsm it's a much better reward. RE the till receipts, you only need to send in a least one per monthy, and can scan stuff even if you have no receipt, so if you need to keep it for some reason, you can still scan your shopping.

I'll have a look and see if I can invite/recruit new members and get back to you!

Sorry this is a bit of a long one!

I've just had a look on the website, and left a message asking how other people can join, so I'll just shave to wait and see if I get a reply. Also checked my points, I'm a couple of hundred points off 600,000 (£600)!!:D

Just re-read my 'balls up' post, and yup, I've made another one. The points values I give are for the scanning i do with nsm (part of tns), NOT with iscan, that's just £1 a week.

If you are a member of shop and scan, then log into your account. There is a survey there which is very quick and you will be credited with 500 points within 24 hours. I almost missed seeing it.

What is "Shop and scan" please? Or is it an exclusive by invitation club??

Thanks

tiger

You register to scan your shopping each week. They send you a hand held scanner and you get credited with 1000 points, worth £1.
It doesn't seem much I know, but it mounts up with the occasional survey and you can claim a gift voucher when you get to £10.
I had a link I sent to another member on here. I'll see if I can find it later.
Sorry, I've not time at the moment.
