I can't remember whether it was late 70's or early 80's but there was a series of fictional fantasy adventure paperbacks that were in green.
You started at no 1 and read a couple of paragraphs then was given 3 or 4 options. You moved around the book according to the option you chose but usually there was only one way to win. There were some quite spooky drawings to go with the book.
My son is now at the age that he may enjoy the adventure whilst improving his reading - and its got to be better than playing on his computer - but for the life of me I can't remember what they were called.
Anyone recall them?

I sort of know the ones you mean but the ones I had were with red covers
basically
"you are walking along a path and have a choice of"
"take the left fork" turn to page 3
"take the right fork" turn to page 5
is that the ones that you mean?

Written by the same people is the Lone Wolf series, I think Amazon may still have some - they are along the same lines as the ones you mentioned!

Maybe he would like some of the Dragonlance tales series Gobby, my dss discovered these for himself (off my old bookselves) after Harry Potter convinced him that not all books were boring..

I had a series of books like this in the early 80's and they were called 'choose your own adventure'.

I remember these. Every time you met a monster or a dragon, didn't you have to roll a dice to see who had won. I never bothered with this. i automatically won every battle. :D

I used to love those choose your own adventure books, they were great. But I always used to go to the page, and if I didn't like the sound of the story, I'd go to the other page instead!

Well, after receiving countless delaying emails from tesco, my box set still has not arrived so I have managed to find the publishers and rang them direct.
Spoke to a chap who said that the Box set 1-8 would definately not be fulfilled but that they could do either box set 1-4 and box set 5-8.
He said that box set 1-8 retailed at £29.99 and 1-4 & 5-8 were £17.99 each so I said 'Oh'.
He said you probably paid less with Tesco and I said yes and that I grew up with them and that I wanted my son to have the same enjoyment that I experienced but that we had already missed his birthday and I thought that we were now going to miss Xmas.
He said he would get both box sets 1-4 & 5-8 for Xmas and that we could have them for £20.00 :)
