:eek::eek::eek:

I just opened my hotmail account and there was an email from service@paypal.com saying that they had placed Account Limitations on my account due to recent activity.

Now... I have been using my account quite a lot recently because Ive been buying H&B and Nappy Points so initially thought it was genuine. There was a link to click open and Im always wary of them, so before I done that I thought Id sign into Paypal and see if what was said was backed up.... and my paypal account is perfectly fine. Seems this was a phishing email!!!

I consider myself to be quite savvy but even I almost fell for it. Beware folks!!

NB.. soz cant copy email here as I clicked on 'Report Phishing email' box on Hotmail and it disappeared.

Yep I fell for it:mad: I clicked on a link and entered my details. All looked completely normal. Next thing I know some dude had bought a £600 boom box on my Paypal account through eBay. Luckily he had asked to pick it up and when they asked for Id and my email address for the account he couldn't give it and did a runner. Lucky for me the eBay guys were savvy:clap2: Lesson learnt

is it the one that says 'you can tell it's from ebay as we address you by name' and then starts 'dear member'!!!

i realised as it came into non linked ebay account otherwise would have thrown me as was in a rush going thru emails!!

I got this yesterday and only realised something was wrong when the link to fill in the details didn't work.

Thanks, I don't feel quite so foolish now I'm not on my own.

Email doesnt mention Ebay (had those phishing ones too).

Only talks about Paypal and you account. Hope it helps others from being scammed.

Forward these emails to

spoof@paypal.co.uk they then can track them. I get phishing ones all the time, got some from 'Barclays' today.

I got one stating account limitations had been put on my account. Didn't have a link so I signed into paypal by the proper route and sure enough, it was true - and I'd assumed it was a scam one :eek:

I had one as well, but it was sent to the email address that i dont use for paypal so knew it wasnt genuine.

I also get totally inundated with emails from various banks even to email addresses that are not used in any way for banking so just ignore the lot.

I can understand how some people fall for the more professional looking e-mails. However some of the banking ones I get are barely readable because of the truly atrocious spelling and grammar and I just can't believe they fool a single person - but millions of us get spammed anyway in the attempt :mad:
