I gave up with them when they went to internet only, website too slow found it really tedious filling in form. But all I get from them is banks, used to get some nice assingments in a 3 initialled shop, and a diy shop even had a really good one where i had to spend £50 and got to keep item. arrg the good old days of M/S.

I only get Bank jobs too, but compared to other MS companies the fees are much better so I don't mind doing them. Would be nice for some of the other companies to come back to it though.

I get banks too, but quite like them. They are generally pretty quick, and pleasant enough, and think grassroots pay a bit better than some others. But I am getting a bit bored of some of the scenarios.

Mind you not as bored of a mobile phone retailer where I have done about 20 different shops for another MS company. Again they are fairly OK to do, but now have an encyclopaedic knowledge of mobile phone contracts. Friends were looking for a new contract and I was able to issue them a recommendation immediately, and they couldn't find a better deal. Now that is sad, but at least vaguely useful!

I think of MS as one of my little hobbies, like Tescoing and postal surveying, so don't expect to earn a fortune but it makes a change and gets me out. Don't I sound like a sad case, ahhhhhh.

That's great, well done. Do you find that when you go out doing none-mystery shopping, in restaurants etc, that you are mentally assessing them? I do find myself thinking sometimes, well they will get marked down for that.

It's worse in a particular restaurant chain, where we've been a few times for MS. I went there the other day with OH, the food arrived and he said don't you need to record the time? And I said we're not actually being paid for this one darling, so no not really!

And sometimes I feel so sorry for them. Particularly if it is young staff who look like they're just having a bad day, and don't jump through all the 'do you need help with your packing' type hoops.

You have to log on to the website to see what they have available. They do send emails to me saying they have work in my area, but they are quite often gone by the time I log on so I check myself every now and then.

When I first started with GR I was impressed at £10 for sitting in a bank for 20 mins - after the third I was bored and never done one since. However I have done a great deal of mobile phone shops, often get Asda and the last I did for them was a Tesco :o)

Got my first GR job after logging on for the first time this week. Yes, it is a bank but it does pay well for going to visit my own bank!!!

Also got my Royal Mail stamps and first job for them this week, all very quick.

In days gone by, I used to be a right GRASSROOTS TART. Did at least 3 a week for them, mainly banks, sometimes even gyms, diy stores and supermarkets. However, when they switched to the website thing where you had to log on to accept visits etc, I pulled out. I kept getting emails saying WE HAVE VISITS IN YOUR AREA, however, whenever I logged on, there was nothing there.

The fees were very good for GRASSROOTS. But when it comes to working out taxes, I ended up paying quite a bit as the payment was mainly fees and very little reimbursements.

Good luck to all your GRASSROOT shoppers and don't forget to work out your taxes too.

i have experienecd exactly the same thing .... also ... that my local asda store visits ... are gone within 45 seconds of them appearing online ..... like they hand them out before they put them on the net ...

Same here - used to do a lot for Grass Roots but got bored with endless bank visits and once I'd factored in parking charges and time taken to do the questionnaires, it wasn't really worth it. With this internet log-on the jobs are always gone by the time I can log on even if it's seconds after receiving the email so I've given up.

As for Retail Eyes - lots of jobs but they all pay just £5 and if it's a restaurant type thing they give you such a tiny allowance (£2-£3 mainly) that it just isn't worth the effort.

I'm sticking to my focus groups - MUCH better money for a fraction of the effort!

Retail Eyes absolutely annoy the hell out of me since they bought th 48 hour rule into play.

Checked on Tuesday morning and there was a load of William Hill visits to starting 24/08/08. I absolutelty love these visits.

Just checked now, and theyre almost all gone. What happenned to the 48 hour rule???

Why didn't you pick them up when you first saw the visits? It's fastest finger first on RE.

I think you have misunderstood the 48 hour rule.

RE want you to select your shopping date within 48 hours of accepting the job. So if you accepted the job as soon as you saw it, you would then have to select the date ASAP if it is not done within the 48 hours, they will take the job from you.

This is to prevent people from nabbing all the jobs, with little intention of completing them, which is not only unfair on other shoppers, but also unfair on the allocating team at RE.
