One of my friends is selling his sat nav (Tomtom Go 510) and I am thinking of buying it from him.
However I am a bit confused about if there is a subscription to pay to Tomtom for the maps or something and if so how easy is this to transfer from him to me?
I have had a look at the tomtom website but could not confirm one way or another if there was a annual subscription or not.
Also - anyone got the 510 and if so any comments about it??
Thanks

Cheers for that, I did not want to get it and then find I had to pay a small fortune to get it to work.

510 is fine if a little bulkier than newer models. Don't pay to much tho. I would have thought somewhere around £40 would be fair.

I am wanting to see it and more to the point see it in my car before I make up my mind for sure. That is the sort of figure he is talking about.

The 510 is no more powerful than the Tom Tom One Version 1 which effectively replaced the 310 and 510. I bought a original One 2 years ago for £100 new and still use in my taxi.
Whilst the 510 can be used as a hands free bluetooth speaker, and the One cannot.
The One however gets a far better/stronger gps signal due to in having a better built in gps ariel/receiver.
So thats why I would only pay £40 or so for a 510.
