View Full Version : Retail Eyes?

I've decided to try some Mystery Shopping, petrol's getting so dear now, so I need other reasons to drive into our nearby towns.
I've applied at Gap, but from doing some reading at MSE it looks like Retail Eyes have quite a few assignments.
Apparently there is £1.50 on offer to existing members for referral of a new member, so would anyone here who is already a member like to refer me? :)
(Hope I haven't broken any rules here?)
Update: Many thanks to the person who PM'd so quickly, no more PM's thanks.

PM me and I'll refer you.
There are quite a few jobs online at the moment depending on your area in the country. Mostly for chemists, £5 a job but you need to have a pescription to hand over. :)

I'd quite like to sign up too please if someone wants to refer me?
I'm already with Grassroots and have done a couple of banks (mystery shops that is....not robbing them) in the last couple of weeks.
I'm 2 minutes from Glasgow airport so the airport one would suit me!

I would quite like to sign up to some mystery shopping too.Is it difficult to do or is it just a case of turning up doing as they ask then reporting back??

That's a "how long is a bit of string" type question!
Some jobs are more complicated than others, depending on what the job asks you to do.
As an example, for the one I did today, I had to:
Make a note of what was left and right of the branch (to verify that you went to the correct location!)
Note the posters in the window.
Note the time I entered.
Note how many staff and what they were doing.
Note how many customers browsing.
See if I got approached on the shop floor, if not wait a while then ask.
Ask a question about an item and see how it was handled.
Pick something to buy.
Note how many people were in the queue and how long it took to be served.
Check if the cashier offered me a specific promotion.
Note how the payment process was handled.
Note the time I left.
On both staff interactions, I needed to note the name and description of the staff member, and basic manners - did they give a greeting/farewell, say thanks, were friendly and polite etc.
Sounds like loads to remember, but once you've done a few it's second nature to remember it until you get out of sight of the shop and can scribble down notes!
Some reports are easy with simple questions:
Was the shop clean and tidy? yes/no
Were you greeted on entering? yes/no
etc
Other reports require more detail, with written paragraphs explaining everything that happened and it must be to a decent standard of written English or the proof readers get cross!
Hope that is helpful, and if you've got anymore questions, just ask!

Retail eyes is great - have taken the family out for dinner once a week for the last 4 weeks - dont really make a lot of money on top but obviously saving on shopping, getting a nice meal and also saves me having to worry about what I'm cooking at night which is nice during hols when you want to go out for the day.

This sounds as though it would suit me - Ex retail manager - I AWAYS look critically at staff and shops (my OH says it really isn't necessary to point out when the shop has light bulbs that need replacing) - live near Gatwick - and as the carer for 89 year old MIL ALWAYS have a prescription in my handbag!
How do I arrange to be referred?!

It varies from company to company. Some pay none, some pay a set sum and some pay Xp per mile. Same goes for parking expenses - none, included in your set sum or full reimbursement.
You can just join up with Retail Eyes pearl, but if you put someones name in as a referrer, they get £1.50.

A lot of the retail eyse stuff is a case of fastest finger. I check for assignments using my postcode, my dads and I also keep a useful list of ones for shopping centres nearby, good excuse to go to Birmingham or Chester etc.
On my lists are ones for a well known sports shop at the moment, think they give you a pittance to buy something

Hi all,
I know that mystery shopping companies and their clients really hate their client names and fees disclosed. :nono:

And totally agree with Numpty, MS companies have been known to fire people for discussing fees etc directly .

I am on the list of two mystery shopping agents, one a fast finger type, only done one job for them and the other used to contact me twice a year to do a job but the firm that employed them was bought out. So I've not done any mystery shopping for two years now. If they fired me I would not even know :D

Anyway, I appreciate your frankness and have edited accordingly.

If anyone still need referred please feel free to PM me. I have done 2 jobs this week and next week i have 2 food chain visits, it's very easy once you get the hang of it and free meals are a bonus especially when you have to order 3 courses;)....but don't tell anyone on the WL thread i said that:laugh:

I do enjoy the food ones! However it is difficult if you go with family, as your has to be a separate receipt, tyhis makes it look dodgy I think! It is good if yu are going out with friends and pay separately anyway.

I have had this a few times. They basically just want to clarify something you have put in a report. It may be just to give additional information about the location of what you visited or to clarify somebody's name. Certainly nothing to worry about. They are a really friendly bunch at Retail Eyes.

Rather kills the point of a company having a mystery shopper test them out if they tell the staff :)

Some months ago I referred a couple of the girls I work with. They have both completed assignments but I have not received the £1.50 referral money.
Anyone ever received this payment , if so how long did you have to wait?
thanks

It is quite common to get queries like this so don't worry, probably something really silly. :)
BTW quite cheeky to ask us to phone them at our expense, especially with the peanuts they're paying!
Also, if they phone you or email you with a query, you're supposed to get back to them as quick as you can (as obviously we don't have lives ) because if they make 3 unsuccessful attempts at contacting you, they'll remove a point off your score or soemthing like that - as if it matters!:der:
Can you tell I'm not overly impressed with the ticket system on RE!! :D :whip:

I tried calling just now but they're closed. I know what you mean as i had 2 points removed from my account cos i dared to ask if i could take my child to a meal as i didn't have a babysitter so i thought i'd be above board with them. I also said in the e-mail if it was a no then i would try and find another babysitter but thought i'd ask first. They replied with a definate NO and removed 2 points from my account and the job too!!! I was fuming and e-mailed her to tell her so and they did phone and apologise and said they should have let me try and get another baby sitter first, but the job had been reallocated, i am still hacked as it was £50 spend in a chain eaterie, so a very good job, so i retaliated by releasing all the piddly little jobs from my account that i was to do on the same day, some might not agree with that but i was so mad at their lack of communication etc. So honesty doesn't always pay;).

I had a query once on a job I did. I was supposed to notice a poster behind the bar but the poster was not in the area I went to, the food/drink ordering bit. It turned out they had put the poster behind the bar area at the other end of the resturant and in a smoking area (going back some time) not an area I'd been told to examine.
Really niggles you when things like this come up. Mind you, these days you can take a camera phone picture (while pretending to take your mates photo) to prove that the poster is not where you were told to look
