View Full Version : How long would you wait for item paid by Paypal

I bought some Tesco vouchers converted to my choice of deals, Pizza Hut and Cafe Rouge, auction finished on 12th August paid immediately by Paypal. I know it takes some time and have had good comms from seller, last was "chased up your deals and Tescos have assured me they will be sent this week" (that is last week).
Listing stated 2 weeks to receive converted deals.
Seller also has 100% feedback

I've just sent this email-

Hi xxxxx,
Do you have any news on the vouchers?
I hate to pester but it's approaching 4 weeks and the Pizza Hut vouchers are only valid until the end of October.
I know it can take a bit longer than 2 weeks at end of qtr for converting.
I don't mind waiting a few more days but then I'm sorry I'll have to ask for a refund.
Regards xxxx

I've never bought Deal Vouchers before so I don't know if this happens, mine have taken 3-8 days to convert. I know if I was the seller I would be offering a refund.
Any suggestions anyone?
Never claimed via Paypal not received, really don't like to do it.:(

I would put in a claim for item not received. That's too long to wait. She may well have a problem with getting them from Tesco but that isn't your fault. Did you get a good deal. If so it may be that she doesn't want to go ahead with it and using 'they haven't arrived yet' as an excuse:(

I'm sure there is a time limit on how long you have to put a paypal claim in - maybe she is trying to get you to wait until this date has gone.

I would def. ask for a refund, if she's not forthcoming VERY soon I'd go straight to paypal. After all, if she refunds you, she still will have the vouchers to re-sell soon, and I'd think that more people would be happy to bid if she can actually say she has them in her hand.

Good luck!

File a PayPal dispute right away, you have waited long enough :(

I converted Meals Out Deals two weeks ago, ordered on the Sunday and arrived on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
I suspect your seller has a problem and isn't being entirely truthful?

Once you open the dispute, don't close it if the seller comes up with promises...only close it once you have the vouchers in your hand or a refund in your PayPal account.

Sadie it doesnt take this long to convert them...i think you have been patient enough tbh. file a dispute hun

Thanks for all your helpful replies,
The seller emailed today to say she has received my deals this morning and will post 1st class recorded, well she actually said she'd phoned home and they were there. I wonder if my mention of a refund had anything to do with it.
I've checked Paypal help pages and it's 45 days from payment date to put in a claim so I won't be waiting too long for delivery although I'm on the right side by 19 days.
I paid half the value Tuckerpoo so fair but not a cheap bargain.
I'm saving for a car so didn't want to use my own vouchers.

The cynic in me thinks it is a bit coincidental the Deals arrived same day as you mentioned a dispute ;)

Good that all looks to be OK, if the vouchers don't materialise, at least you still have time to file with PayPal.

I thought that and not arrived today either nor any comms from seller or tracking number, perhaps stalling.
I'd much rather someone was honest with me.

i think you have been very patient. i would open up a claim with paypal. know you said you havent done this before. just go to your ebay list of won items. on the right hand side of yr list you will see you can choose an option from a drop down list, choose item not received and this should take you to the paypal payment, you can then open the claim up. once the claim is open you can escalate it to a dispute if the seller still continues not to reply to your messages. I agree with Emma, you have waited long enough!

I would open a dispute tomorrow if vouchers still haven't arrived. Seller claims to have posted Monday so I would expect them by tomorrow at the latest.
I would e-mail her today asking for the tracking number and explain you haven't received and want to check with your local sorting office in case delivery was attempted and they are waiting there ;)
The above should worry her a little if she isn't being honest - then add that you will unfortunately need to file a dispute with PayPal tomorrow if they don't arrive.

Emma has given the dispute procedure which is easy to follow - good luck and let us know how you get on :)

Thanks to all that gave advice, it was greatly appreciated
I got them and was sent a few more, no other comms from the seller at all, no tracking no, no apology and no response when I contacted to say they were received.
Isn't Ebay a strange place.
Sorry sammybear that your having problems, I hope it works out for you.
I don't think I'd buy deal vouchers again on Ebay it's too stressful.

Perhaps we need a code on Ebay for fellow Pts'ers who need to sell their deals or anything a bit like the freemasons handshake, maybe a little (p) in the title, I might try this when selling something. If you spot me you can have a prize.:D

Glad you got sorted, Sadie :)
There is no excuse for any seller not to communicate when there is a problem with the transaction, unless of course they have a legit reason such as no internet or family emergency.

Sorry you are having probs too, Sammy and hope your seller comes up with the goods once PayPal get on his back.
There are so many lovely and honest sellers on Ebay, shame there are a few who think they can ignore buyers and get away with poor customer service

How are you doing sammybear, I hope you've received your goods.

I have to say I've been using Ebay since 2000 and haven't had too many problems(still managed to keep 100% pos feedbacks)

I've had to bend over backwards for some newbies but can live with lack of knowledge, had my only really bad experience years ago with a US e cheque payer who couldn't understand that I didn't have his money when it left his account, Ebay did. He threatened to ruin my 100% feedback if I didn't post when he told me to, he told me he was in prison for murder and don't mess with the Americans, and all for the princeley sum off £9.
A quick refund and block did the trick, he kept changing his ID so block and block.

Had my moan about Ebay.:D

OMG, didn't know US prisoners had access to Ebay, lol :)
The stories some buyers come up with show a very vivid imagination, but haven't heard that one until now!!

keep the message and inform ebay. they will then ask you to send them it, but they will need all the headers etc etc but will explain how to do this.

I think this seller is goign to be in for a surprise when PayPal refund you....then you can leave a well deserved neg....if he is still trading by that time!

Some sellers just have no idea and seem to think themselves blameless when something goes wrong
Karma is my favourite word at times like this ;)

Great that you have been refunded Sammy :)

I am puzzled by his e-mail addy appearing on your PayPal log in page  That is something I haven't come across before.

I wouldn't change to your e-mail addy from the page, try opening a completely new window and see if it happens again.
If it does, I would contact PayPal by phone and would change your password just to be on the safe side.

If you need a cheaper phone number for PayPal, I posted it the other day so should be easy to find - shout me if you can't find it :)
Please let us know the outcome as I am sure others will also be interested to know why the seller's e-mail is showing.

Thx for all the info hun. Ebay emailed me back within a couple of hours with their phone number as well...the 020 number.

Not sure why the paypal did that...hubby cleared everything for me though, so am ok now, never known that before ? odd

Just deciding what to put for his feedback :D

You're welcome Sammy and glad you got sorted :)
All very strange as I've never heard of this happening before and good that Ebay gave you the 020 number rather than the 0870 one ;)

Enjoy leaving your feedback :)

I think it only shows if you are a Powerseller which I think you are Emma?
I'm not a PS (not even a seller at the mo, lol ) and it doesn't show on My Ebay where you said it shows on yours.

I think Sammy maybe meant PayPal phone number as I don't think Ebay will take any calls from non Powersellers....unless Sammy is a PS?
