I'm currently looking for a part time job over Christmas, and have noticed some good staff discounts in the bigger stores. We don't have many stores round here, more local shops, but I still find it interesting to know what employees offer. I used to work for Mr T, and got 10% there, and that included my car/home insurance. So does anyone else know what some places offer?

At Ernest Jones we used to get 25% on full priced items and 10% on sale items, plus we could buy a watch at cost price once a year, which is paying 40% of RRP.

I used to work at a jewellers (small family run business) and we got 20% when we started rising to 30% after two years and then once a year after you have been there for five years you had the chance to purchase something at cost price. Everyone would pick there dream ring, necklace etc always one of the most expensive. We used to have different markups for each company ranging from 2.5 times to a whopping 4 times.
So the customer that bought a product from the latter company may have paid ?400 for a product we had bought in at ?100 but that was quite rare usually somewhere in between.

Does anybody work in M & S Food over Christmas - I really fancy it - I must be very sad - but at 20% staff discount it sounds even more appealing!

Used to work in retail (admittedly some years ago) and it was usually a 6 month wait for the discount at most places, and from talking to people at the time temporary staff didn't get it, so check beforehand if this is one of your main incentives!

Boots was 12.5% branded, 22.5% own brand but that is going back about er 10 years!

QS?bewise when i worked there was 25% off ladies clothing and 15% off everything else if i remember correctly (was about 5 years ago!)
