Thanks to Cinderella for pointing this out. It's a bit like freecycle whereby unwanted goods get passed to other people who could use them etc etc.
EFREEKO (http://www.efreeko.co.uk/login.php?create=yes&userref=gizmos ) - this is the link that helps us "join the race" - plus its good for the environment
The ultimate recycling resource. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill which is great news for the environment. And FREE stuff is great news too!
The only charge for an item is postage and packing (and that should be charged at cost), unless of course you find the item you are looking for within your local area.
However, they are offering a £50 Amazon voucher to the member who has referred the most people to the site by 30th April. If you click on the link above and join the site that will count towards our referrals.
If we manage to win this the £50 voucher will go towards a prize for competition. Am sure you all will think it's worth it.
Also when you sign up you may ask for referrer - put friend and username as Gizmos for PTS to be credited.

defo I agree - rep shouldn't be given out for the hell of it but I think this is a good cause and in the interest for all at PTS - if any mod thinks otherwise of cause we will respect that and act accordingly :)

Just registered, Giz you could easily get the most referrals if all the PTS regulars does the same!

Hi
I am the owner of the efreeko site.
Whilst I would love you all to join the site, I would prefer it if you didn't try to fix the referrals result by signing up under multiple email addresses. We have lots of members who are genuinely referring their friends to the site and it is a bit unfair on them to have people 'cheating'.
Also, we have put lots and lots of our time and effort into making this site a success. We want to make a difference to the environment and to enable people to get free stuff at the same time.
We make no money out of the site, other than a measly bit of google ad money (which doesn't even cover our costs) and the £50 we have to find for the prize money is coming out of our own pockets. So we want it to go to someone who has genuinely worked hard on our behalf.
Thanks and please do join, but only if you intend to use the site.

Ciders - dont panic - we are still in the competition and are still allowed to win - the only no is multiple accounts fromt he same persona nd you really must have alook around the site when you sign up and see if you can offer/get anything
thanks for the thought though

I think it will be great for those things that you may find difficult to shift on ebay or indeed are bulky

Hi I signed up for this site before I found paid to shop as I moderate 3 freecycle groups and thought maybe I could recycle some of the smaller stuff on efreeko ?
I posted up my items and within a day someone had expressed an interest , so I replied (which was not as straightforward as it looked) . I heard nothing , I left the items up on there for two months , and eventually found a new home through freecycle for them . Kinda hoping they get this sort of thing sorted out though as the more stuff that is kept out of landfill the better.
I must say I find freecycle easier to use and much easier to actually get rid off stuff . One of the reasons I stopped ebaying things was the hassle of packing and posting , I just don't have time for all that faffing about, and efreeko relies on a lot of that same faffing around weighing items and pricing postage .
For those who do not already know what freecycle is all about... it is the fastest growing recycling network on the web. It is run entirely by volunteers . Its mission is to keep useable stuff from landfill worldwide. The basic concept is this..lets say I have a piano that I no longer want , I have tried to sell it for a few quid elsewhere and no-one is interested. Rather than go through the hassle of loading it on to a hired or borrowed van to take it to the dump , I put a message on my local Freecycle group ... OFFERED: Piano (location) Then a short description of the piano and maybe a photo . Everyone who is interested in becoming the new owner of my old piano emails me through the website . I then choose who I like to be the new owner , email them with my details (time place etc) and they collect their new piano. Everybody is happy , I got rid of an old piano , cleared some space in my house and didnt have to hire a van (and got that lovely warm feeling you get inside when you give something away ), the new owner is happy they got a new piano they had been wanting for ages , the planet has one less thing buried in landfill.:D
Obviously if you use freecycle quite a bit , this leaves you with more money to spend on Bootsing or Tescos or Shopping wherever you like.
So before you chuck it ...check it....could it be used by someone else.....if so join Freecycle and find it a new home.....
Once you have caught the freecycle bug it changes your life for the better....must be all those good karma points :D
I shall get off my soapbox now:)

i'm a member of both freecycle and efreeko, they each have positives and negatives... I have rehomed stuff thru both and things have found me also, that may have ended up on the local *tip* :)

Just had my Efreeko newsletter. Someone called gizmos referred 29 friends so won a competition. Wonder who this could be then  ;)
I only joined a couple of weeks ago, after reading about it on here, and it seems like a great site!
