I don't think so hun. Sounds strange to me. If he will sell outside of eBay then why not via the listing:confused:

I think I would ask him why he won't sell it to you via eBay

Fees have gone through the roof so every seller is hoping to save a little....if he's a registered business seller or has high feedback I wouldn't worry. I sell off ebay too and usually offer to split the fees with the buyer. If paying by paypal, you should still be covered, as long as the invoice is for goods and not services.

What reason has been given for you "not meeting the sellers requirements"?
Any seller listing on Ebay is required to accept PayPal and has to offer it in order to be able to list.

Personally I wouldn't buy from outside Ebay regardless of great feedback.
There is always a possibility the seller's account has been hijacked and you may not be dealing with the "seller" if you take the sale outside Ebay ;)
