I signed up a few weeks ago and have accepted my first assignment, and it's today. I'm feeling excited but also nervous. I'm scared that I'll mess it up, forget things :eek: or give myself away:eek::eek::eek:. Any advice or tips please from those who have lots of experience would be very gratefully received.

Erm just act normal, I have a terrible memory always write down what happened straight afterwards and remember to check your watch as they always want accurate timings. You'll be fine Good luck.
What retailer is it for?

I was awful on my first one. Kept taking my notes out of my bag to make sure that I had done everything. Even sat on the loo in the restuarant and made my notes in there! You'll be fine, as KittyKat says the timing is the most crucial thing - I use the timing feature on my mobile phone for this - it has a lap feature as well which is good if they want exact timings for when you join queue, get served, etc. Good luck - you'll be fine!

I do banks most of the time, they are pretty easy going as you generally have time to wait and check watch, clock in the branch. As others have said, just note down key times as soon as you can afterwards and dont forget to check you assignment instructions prior for things like noting down stores either side etc. Dependingon who your working for they wont pay up unless they have all the relevant information.
Good luck......:)

if you have a dificult one i find that pretending to text and actually putting a note on your mobile helps.
who do you work for?
grassroots takes a lot of filling in after!

You get better the more you do, i find them exciting now. I've also started auditing on a weekly basis where they know i'm there and i can tell them what's wrong....sometimes i'm not Miss Popular i can tell you:whip:

What's the auditing about then, Jemima?
I filled in the online questionnaire, after the job but have heard nothing since. Can anyone tell me what happens next please?
How long before I get another job? Do they email me or do I have to check the website for jobs on the offchance?
As a newbie to mystery shopping any info would be very gratefully received.

If it's the RE site hun you just sign in whenever you want and take your pic, somedays you have to be quick though.
Auditing is when i go in and tell them i'm here to audit the store, make sure 95% of lines are out, clean, tidy, till staff/customer ratio etc. It's good, i enjoy it.

I saw an ad for the one I joined. If you have a look on the thread on MSE about mystery shopping there is lots of info. I found it while I was browsing a couple of months ago, and that's what sparked my interest.

I do YouGov surveys, Erewards surveys, & Ayton Moon product testing, so mystery shopping seemed to be the next step.

Thanks for explaining, Jemima. It sounds like something I'd like to do. May I ask who you do it for, if that's not being too nosy?

Ha - I've just been offered a mystery shopping assignment at my local Tesco's! They want me to speak ask to speak to the manager and do a product audit of the restaurant stock! Think I'll be giving this one a miss as it is likely to raise my profile about 10,000 feet above the radar!!!!! :o
