They're great! I've just put a shoulder of lamb in mine ready for lunch. I have the Grand, and yes it was expensive, but it's really good. It keeps the food moist, and made a great job of roasting the "Glitch Gammon"

Lakeland is the only uk supplier unfortunetly, so no competition, there are some on ebay however.

Have had mine for about 7 years it is brilliant and would certainly recommend it to anyone.
Great also for camping and caravan holidays if you need an oven as you can cook virtually anything in it.
Very economic with the electric as uses far less than a normal oven.

I have got one and do not use it as much as I should... when I do use it I love how well it cooks food.

Given I am on an economy drive at the moment with how much gas and electricity we are using I am going to try and use it more..

we bought one to take with us in the caravan and now use it at home as well, it is wonderful, everything we cook in it tastes great, and as said before you can cook anything in it,. i also would recomend it to anyone.

Thats good, not sure if I can afford one at the moment, but its on my list, will also be looking at freecycle and the charity shops, as its the sort of thing some people buy and never use. Thanks everyone.

I've got one too, just been to lakeland and got the shallow pan for the grand today:D.

Chicken nicely done in the deep pan and tons of roasties doing as I type in the shallow pan, when done I'm going to quickly whip up a cake mix and whack that in whilst we're eating tea, mmmmmmmmm.

I would heartily recommend a remoska to anyone, cheaper to run than a cooker (significantly), food tastes lovely, just all round brilliant.:D

For what you would pay on ebay I'd pay that bit extra and get from Lakeland, their customer service is excellent and there are reports on MSE that they replace any parts of the remoska no quibble even after 5 years.

Even people without receipts or proof of purchase, they are really quick to send out your replacements from lids to pans, no probs.:D

I would second that there CS is fantastic our 1st remoska had a prob with the non stick coating and they sent a replacement within 24hrs of phoning free of charge.
I am a great fan of Lakeland.

Do you all go on the moneysaving old style thread on MSE? There is a thread on there all about remoskas, recipes etc.

Is it a slow cooker? or a pressure cooker?
Interested in it but as I have both is it actually something I need?

I want to buy a Remoska specifically for camping but was worried about the amount of electricity it uses i.e would it blow the electrics on camp? Has anyone got any experience of using it while camping?

A lot of people buy them for camping as the wattage is low.

I have heard that they are perfect for cooking on a campsite - very versatile.

Maverick

Completley different a remoska is like a mini oven, so dooks like an oven not like a slow cooker hth.

Are Bog chickens any bigger than free range? - or is their name a reference to where they breed, their type of breed, or how they taste?

looking at the grand sized, what sized chicken would i be able to fit in it. just watched the demo video, but she didnt say how big the chicken was.

Maverick
13th December 2008, 10:07
I got a massive chicken in mine last night, was prob about as big as you can buy it ws touching the glass so i put a bit of foil over it, and as it cooked it shrinks a little so I then uncovered it, the chicken was lovely much more moist than in the oven.

Emmamed

you sound like the lady on the demo lol
i am just trying to find out if its big enough for the family, what weight was yr chicken pls.

Maverick
13th December 2008, 12:33
The grand is huge, I cant remember the weight of the chicken but it was one of the biggest I have ever seen the feet had to be wrapped in side, Im telling you it was a monster!

I have the small one and wish I'd bought the big one. Small gets about a 2-3kg chicken in but no room for potatoes.
