I've just recently joined valued opinions and got my first survey to do today. It wants me to down load some software onto my computer, which I'll get £3 for, then £3 for every 3months installed on my computer. Sounds easy money but just wary about the software download. Has anyone else done this before?

Ive been with Valued opinions for about 18 months but havent come across this.

A while ago another survey company (the one we are not supposed to talk about ;) ) sent a similar email about downloading software from AC Neilsen so that they could monitor internet sites that you used. They made it sound innocent but when I looked at the terms and conditions it said that the software would give them access to everything, even your security passwords, bank details etc. I posted about it on here at the time as other people had had the email, needless to say we didnt sign up.

Im not saying your email is about the same thing - just have a look at the terms and conditions before you go any further. HTH :)

Thanks for the replies. This software is for a specific Technology survey and as the FAQ link isn't working:rolleyes: I have emailed them for more information. I am still very wary as they are very vague about it in the original email, just said how much money I could make.

This is the email, I'm not sure what to Google to find out more about it?

We have an interesting opportunity for you to take part in.

Our client is interested in your experience and activities online. To participate in this study you will need to download and install a software application on your computer. I looked at this YooHoo . . .

And IMHO I really don't want to run the risk of compromising my PC's security for anything - and certainly not £3 a month!!!!!!!

I think your right. Its a shame as even the reply to my query was vague, this being the first survey they've sent me I'm now very wary of them.

Oh Erh ! I agreed to do this. I must be easily bought. :o

Installed it on my laptop. On the rare occassions i order on-line I always use my desktop which I haven't installed the software on as I have a printer linked to the desktop.

Am now wondering if I have been a complete numpty for the sake of £15 quid a year.:o

I'm not very IT literate, I just thought they were monitoring time spent on-line and sites surfed.

Don't worry - you are not alone - I too agreed to it and downloaded it. It was only when it kept prompting me to tell it at regular intervals who was using the pc that it started to really annoy me. Then I spotted this thread and began to wonder what I had gotten into... then I decided to uninstall.
Now I hope it's gone and it can't annoy me any more. Even if it was 'safe', it was damned irritating to anyone pondering,.....

Mmm.That's interesting. It's never asked me who is using the computer. It doesnt talk to me at all. I am begining to wonder if I downloaded it properly ? i used to get an icon at the bottom right of my screen that showed I was using it, but it doesn't seem to be there now.

I got the email, but didn't think it was worth the risk for such small payout. But don't be put off by the site overall, this is one of my faves as it tells you upfront how much cash you're getting for he survey, and i get them fairly regularly. My only advise is if you're at home check regularly for emails and complete surveys straight away as i miss out on quite a few, as by the time i get home from work they are full.
