A few weeks ago DH received a letter from Prudential regarding a policy that might belong to him. He had to answer questions regarding his date of birth and where he was living in the year he was born.
After making sure all the contact details matched the ones we have for Prudential, he answered the questions and sent off the proof of ID they wanted.
He's just received a cheque for almost £1,800. As you can imagine, that's a fantastic amount to receive just out of the blue in these difficult economic times.
Presumably it was a policy his mother had taken out and he never knew about.

That's a good point. I just mentioned that to him so he's going to phone both his brothers in case there a policy belonging to them as well.

Yes, it probably would be but I think we'll maybe treat ourselves to something a bit better than that. :)
DH was only saying the other day that we needed to save some spending money for our holiday this year.

It's going into savings for now Nitwit.
We'll draw some for the holiday spending but the rest will stay there for a rainy day.

OH got a nice letter yesterday too, saying that a loan he had repaid early (2 years ago) the interest had been calculated incorrectly so he had paid back to much. They sent him a cheque for £121 which included interest at 8% which was a result...

That's nice Colman. It seems even better when you aren't expecting it.
DH's payment incuded over £400 interest so the policy must having lying around for some years.
