I'm not asking where you keep documents, in case someone breaks into your house or something! But do you keep them in anything special? I try to keep all our certificates, passports etc together but I haven't got anything safe to keep them all in. I was looking at this (http://www.confetti.co.uk/product/view/68455-0-0-Family_document_file.do) but it doesn't look very big to store 4 people's stuff, and I though for £20, someone on here would have a better idea! At the moment, they're just in a type of file, but I'm a little obsessive with filing and storing things so would like something better!

Anything important goes into our firesafe and we have a bigger safe now for other stuff since we were burgled.
I think we paid around £25 for one for the documents in MrT's.

OMG...you are all so organised, I have no clue where anything is, and when I need something, it means rifling though lots of drawers and cupboards. I did try to organise important docs but failed terribly as I never put things back where they came from and just end up putting them in whatever drawer has space!

I have 2 expandable wallets with everything in, not fireproof but in the wardrobe in our room so easy to fling out of the window in the event of a fire :D
The other thing this has just made me think about, if your house burned down how would you remember everything / prove it if needed to. I may take a video of all our stuf and email it to me mum now I've thought of that. How depressing :(

OMG - you're all so organised!! everytime I need a birth certificate I have to order a new one, passports I shout we can't go they are lost, driving lisense in my handbag in the car and I barely remember who i'm insured with. Must admit last time I was in Aldi I did brouse at one of those metal filing thingies!!
I exaggerate i do have 2 drawers in my bedroom full of errrr old bank statements and credit card bills but they are literally thrown in.
NOW - more importantly - ask me where my tesco clubcard vouchers are - oh yes - old and new and used and unused and all in little piles with dates on in their envelopes (even the out-of-date ones) and that's after my kids played snap with them years ago!

Take a copy of your insurance too! I change my insurance policy yearly (due to quidco!) and so can never remember who we're insured with for different things!

my OH is very organised but I have taken photocopies of passports, leave one set with daughter and take one with us then if lost or stolen whilst away we can get hold of proof to return home.
My motto is if I am prepared then it shouldnt happen:rolleyes:

.... I even store my CC vouchers and deals in the fireproof safe. I had a dream one night that I had to call CC Customer Services after a fire and that turned into a nightmare!!!

Or even zip them up with password protection and upload them to some web space on your ISP account.
When you go on holiday scan your passport and put it in all your cases.
That way if they get lost or you lose your passport it can be used to find you and you have passport details.
