I know its really sad that I've never made these but does anyone know how to make the little choc covered rice cripie/coco pop things that kids make and stick into little cup cake cases? my kids are desperate to do something like that this afternoon and I don't know how to do them.

any help would be appreciated. Do I just melt some choc mix in the rice crispies and then spoon into the cases?

THANKS

Hi

The quick and easy way for the kids would be to break up your chocolate and put it in the microwave for about 1 min check it and stir and depending on how much you are using pop it back in for another minute. DO NOT LET IT BURN. Take it out of the microwave and stir in the rice krispies. Enjoy.

Just melt your chopped up choc in a bowl above a pan of boiling water, add the crispies, stick in cases and let set :) I think rice crispies are nicer than coco pops, and proper chocolate nicer than cooking choc.

Got to agree these are fabulous! Haven't made them in ages, will be dreaming about them now:D

My DH has to visit a very large and posh law firm with work, who have their own inhouse caterers, and they always serve Mars Bar cakes. He loves going, even complained once when they didn't have any left.:D

Add a bit of golden syrup to bind the Rice Krispies :)

You can also add small marshmallows and put the mix into a square or round baking tin and chill in the fridge until set :)

Yes I always add golden syrup....or if you happen to have lots of Dairy Milk caramel bars left from the children's selection boxes they work well melted too!

Ooh, I love crispie cakes, especially with marshmallows mixed in, they go all gooey......anyway, also try them with shredded wheat, just break the shredded wheat up and mix into chocolate as normal but then mould the mixture into little bird nest shapes, when set you can then put mini eggs in the nest.....perfect easter treat :)

Hi 99redballs,
see here post 8 is how I make them. Chocolate is optional. But rather than putting into cake cases put into a greased / greaseproof paper lined baking tray, press down firmly with a wooden spoon, then refridgerate and cut into squares. Just the same as the shop bought ones (without the wrapping)
HTH.

Not made Mars Bar slice for ages. Must remember to buy Mars Bars next time I'm shopping (and hide them til I'm read to use them or they'll be gone).
