I've just rang hospital to let them know hes running a little late, and am waiting for dd to get dropped off as they race past. :(
Just want someone to explain to me how this was my fault...

Sorry you have been ill Mamzie.
Actually some men are good at multitasking. My DH can watch TV at the same time as reading the paper, listening to cricket on the radio and doing a crossword. He seems to lose the skill when it comes to anything to do with housework though. :(

So - in summary . . .
You're ill (you deserve hugs)
OH is looking after you
Looking after Children
Coping with (the minimum of) housework
and is now driving ds to Hospital for appointment - - taking on the vagaries of the outside world, traffic, hospital receptionists etc . . . . taking all that strain away from you . .
(thus allowing you to recover in bed, and communicate with your cyber-mates)
Where isn't multi-tasking?:D:D:D:D:D
(Hugs Mamz!)

Ditto, even having 3 kids just 2 years apart has never given me a reason for retreating to bed, sofa if I am very lucky. Nor having a broken arm - the only things I could not do was hang washing out - the beds were not changed for 6 weeks. Even the other Easter when we all had that dreadful sickness bug that took weeks to clear properly I still dragged myself around, making meals, washing, kitchen clearing, floors and vaccuming, and driving kids around etc
Mind you we tend to live longer than men so at least we have the last word

there is a theory that it dates back to caveman times.
men went out hunting and had to concentrate their focus on one thing, the prey.
the women on the other hand had to wash, clean, look after children and cook.
I actually think their is some truth in this, though there are obviously there are exceptions to every rule.
on the other hand it could be that men don't multi task because its too much like hard work.

If and when mine tries to multitask I have to clean up after him.He doesnt do it the way I'd like it but I cant get caught 'fixing' it or I'd never hear the end of it.
Sorry to hear your ill Mamzie.Get Well Soon-but not for his sake

Sorry to hear you are not very well Mamzie.
I dont feel like I can comment on this thread as OH does all of the above, he does the majority of the cooking and at the weekend we share all the household jobs between us.
He lived on his own for about a year before I met him and in that time I think he really learnt to stand on his own two feet, he is a much better and more confident cook then me and dare I say it he is more tidy then me too.
The only bits that I would do differently are just little things like I would need to prompt him to put vests/right size nappies/socks etc on the children and I always pick out their clothes, as they would wear each others items otherwise and shorts and tshirts in the winter or worse still pyjama tops that he thought was normal tops lol.
But other then that theres not much else, I am rarely if ever ill though but if I am I know I can leave him easily with both children.
So I can say my OH is brill at multi tasking just like a woman, but he is absolutely rubbish at DIY and avoids any decorating at all lengths.

my hubby has this annoying habit, your about to tell him he's about to do something wrong ,as you just know what they are going to do, then he jumps down your throat and shouts 'yes know i was about to do that' -'no you wasn't' i think to myself. well today my 'clever' husband put the kids 'connect 4' game away. the kids had left the counters in the game and he preceded to take the bottom off. well i knew what was going to happen , but i didn't tell him that 'cause he knows it allready' and the counters flew all over the floor!- ha smart a**e
hope you feel better soon mamzie xx

Awww, I guess mine isn't so bad.
He always does any diy, and normally does the dishes. Its just that the general picking up, putting away, routine day to day stuff, etc, that he falls down on.
Just back from gp, and after getting tonsilitis and earache, apparently its a virus now that has affected my eyes, ears, throat co-ordination/messages, which is why I am struggling to get up so much, without getting dizzy and icky.

There is no evidence that women can multitask while men cannot; it's a myth.
