has anyone had hip replacement,just been told today that i've got to haveone. would like some advice please

no I haavn't but having a total knee replacement next month, we could compare notes, lol
surgeon doesn't really want to do it because i am so young :D

My mum has had 3 she fell 3 times the first one was not bad the second one was ok the third time was really bad hasshe was older She fell in the danceing club over the orgainist wire she has a claim in She does walk with the aid of a stick now and then She has had a bigger job then the hip they had to cut her right down to the top of her knee They had to do the bone from the hip as well She seems ok now But my mum is in her seventies now the first hip was done in her fifties

mum had hers done when she was 55 under epidural anesthetisc. its given her a whole new lease of life. doesnt even use a walking stick now and she could hardly move before.

my mom had hers 4 weeks ago yesterday. I think she found the immediate post-op a bit rougher, and definatley more exhausting that she thought it would be - even though I had told her. Having said that the strongest pain relief she had was codiene, then paracetamol. She now has no pain in that hip, is still using crutches, but but I think that is more a confidence issue that anything. My advice is be prepared to just take your time in getting better.
