View Full Version : Does this sound strange to you...?

I am just after a bit of advice really...
Last Saturday 20th June, I bid on and won a Roxy bag, i paid immediately via paypal, the postage stated 1st class but no dispatch time is mentioned. Well today i still hadn't recieved the bag so sent a polite email asking when the bag had been dispatched.
I got a response a couple of hours later stating that they had been 'on business' from tuesday and had been unable to post, and would now be posting on monday  9 days after the auction!!
Well i was a little bit annoyed but left it alone (didn;t want to message back as have been in a foul mood all day and thought it best to be in a better mood before replying)... anyways, i've just been checking out the sellers feedback, only to discover that the most recent 5 feedbacks were from winners of auctions on teh same day that i won... so why hasn;t my item been posted??!?!?!
I have sent a message back saying i had been a little concerned that my item had been lost in the post as a number of her other bidders had recieved their items from the same day, and could she email me when item is dispatched... does this sound dodgy/odd to anyone else?
Not sure if i am able to post item numbers or sellers details so will leave off (better safe than sorry!)

Could be dodgy but could also be a very busy or disorganised person who managed to post some but not all their items
All you can do really is wait for 14 days and then start proceedings

Is it 14 days - i thought you could start the "item not recieved" on day 8 - this usually spurs them into action.
(I would also be very tempted to put in the feedback "item recieved on day x after payment" - still leave poitive feedback, you did get what you paid for)

agree with post above see if it arrives tuesday next week ....but does make me mad when you read feedback and discover folk have recieved items bought same day as you and you havent recieved them yet ....

could be a problem getting to the post office - were the other items equally bulky/odd shaped and needing to be weighed? If they were smaller and went in an envelope or jiffy bag she could have posted them in a box but not made it to the post office with your larger parcel.
I am often away all week too so can believe that she is just disorganised/busy, its very easy to miss the post office hours. Whether she should therefore, have chosen to finish an auction at that time though is another question.

Annoying to pay first class tho and then see it not despatched for over a week

I wouldn't be happy to be waiting so long with no communication from the seller and don't buy her excuse :nono:
Easy to check the excuse out - look to see if any new auctions have been listed while "on business" or feedback left by the seller or any bids placed.
If you list anything on Ebay, you should be prepared to state dispatch times and stick to them baring unforeseen problems which can happen to anyone.
You are quite right to be annoyed, I would be leaving a neutral feedback (so long as the bag arrives and is OK) stating the delay and lack of comms ;)
If nothing arrives by Tuesday, I would file an Item Not Received dispute.

Thanks everyone for your replies, i will wait til Tuesday, and fingers crossed the bag will turn up.

She has items listed with 1day, 4 days and 6 days remaining, but i can't figure out when they were started (ie whether they are 5 day/7day auctions etc).
I think the thing that annoys me most is the lack of communication, and the strange excuse when others have recieved their items.
I work 5 days a week, live in a rural area where there is no saturday post, so i have to make sure i get things ready and post in my lunch hour - if i can't dispatch i won't list the items.... ah well, fingers crossed the bag will arrive next week.

...personally--I'd file a dispute to move them along...esp if they have other items on to sell and will be wanting to get that money out of their account .
I get that 'on business' excuse all the time for poor service....to which I add-
'on dispute' then.
I guess I am one of those 'grumpy' buyers who doesnt mess around with people...:)
Unless they list they will be on a holiday or 'business trip' in their ad---I fully expect
when I pay immediately--they will must get it posted within the ebay rules.

If you click on Bid history, the auction start date should show if there is a bid. It won't show if there is no bid.
As you say items are 1 day, 4 and 6 remaining, it indicates she may well list 7 days auctions every 3 days IYSWIM ;)

I agree with you Rainbow - when selling, I aim to post same or next day and communicate throughout the transaction so buyer knows their item has been sent or when it will be sent etc.
I expect same as a buyer, unfortunately some sellers don't have a clue ......
I will mark their star rating down as that is what it is there for if service is poor.
