View Full Version : Cleaning a pasta machine

I have just bought an Imperia pasta machine. It seems to be all stainless steel but the instructions say not to wash as parts will rust. I've used it several times and although most of the pasta left on it dries and comes off, it is beginning to look as if it needs a thorough clean. Does anyone know how it can be cleaned? Can it be washed and dried quickly to prevent rust on parts?

a dry brush with a pastry brush should be sufficent, wouldn't risk washing it.
at most I would disassemble it and wipe with a damp cloth and dry it quickly.

I wouldn't wash it - just brush the loose bits/flour off. I'm not sure why they say it may rust as stainless steel shouldn't, but then those Italian pasta makers must know a thing or two! (Maybe if you use it everyday then washing it means it never gets dry, I don't know) Anyway, apart from when my DH washed ours after the first use - since when did men ever read instructions - ours has never been washed - simply brushed out and all remains ok.

Brushing and poking seems to keep it clean. Thanks for the advice and if it gets really dirty then I'll take it apart.

Snap. It went in the dishwasher. Now it mostly just lives in the draw.
