View Full Version : What is the best way to freeze apples?

I am confused as to wether you have to blanch them or not. Some say do some say don't so thought I'd ask all your advice. Thanks in advance.

I didnt bother, just cut them into chunks to make crumbles etc, it can stop slight browning but if using stewed etc it wont matter, hth x

i just stewed mine then froze in pots big enough for crumble/pies...

Not the way I did it last year!!!

I cut into chunks and put lemon juice on them to stop browning and then froze but when I came do defrost and use I had a bag of brown sludgy bits instead of apples! So this year I have cooked them first which is I think where I went wrong in not cooking before freezing.
