View Full Version : Money4GoldUk - £19.50

Was having a little look on Quidco last week and saw Money4GoldUK.
Send off for one of there pre-paid envelopes, fill it with unwanted gold, silver etc and send it back. They will then send you an offer, if you accept it then they will send youa cheque within 48 hours.
I had a heap of old silver which I plan to send off to them. They also have a guarentee that if you find gold etc being sold at a higher price they will double the difference. And you get £19.50 on top of it.
Mine actually tracked at £23.00.
Now just need to get my backside down to the Post Office to send the envelope off.

Says £23 now,
Do you know if you have to send it off to get the cashback or not?
Am tempted to send for one but don't think we have anything like that.

I take it that you have to actually send something back to them to receive the cashback as one of the statements on quidco is:-
"If you are not happy with the valuation and have your gold returned you will not recieve Quidco cashback."
Has anyone used money4gold and can recommend them? I am thinking of sending in some silver jewellery (already cashed in all my gold earlier on in the year) in the hope of getting the cashback.

me too ive got quite a bit of silver and like you have already sold my unwanted gold. hopefully it will validate as i dont think the silver will be worth as much as the cashback!

Scary stuff, thanks for posting and I hope it stops some from being ripped off.
Price of 9ct gold scrap was about £8 per oz the other week - friend is in the trade.
I passed one of these "sell your gold" stands in local shopping centre and asked their price - £4 per oz  Woman looked totally unfazed when I commented that the price was rather low....
Please, please do your research before selling as you can get a good price.

Having just read the above links, I think I will wait a little while before sending my jewellery as it would seem like a lot of people are being scammed by money4gold.
Just wondering if anyone has had a positive experience with money4gold?

I was going to do this but have just looked at the conditions again- it states;
You must send a minimum of 10 grams of gold to qualify for the cashback offer.
Dont remember seeing this before but suppose it could have been:(

I used money4gold a few months ago. The stuff I sent in was all rubbish - broken bracelets, odd earings etc. I didn't have it valued elsewhere but weighed it myself and I was delighted to receive a cheque for about £140, and very quickly. That was about right for the weight and the price showing on the web site at the time. As I say, I have no idea what the value may have been elsewhere, but to me it was just rubbish which I could easily have thrown out, so I was really pleased

I found one yesterday (bookmarked on other laptop) that seems to pay a lot more than any others I've seen - I'll have a look at the other laptop tomorrow and try and remember to come to post it.

£8 per gram!
£250 per ounce.
Gold price here: http://www.goldprice.org/gold-price-per-gram.html, multiply by 9/24 to convert to 9 carat.
Be aware these gold by post companies are generally TERRIBLE, and rip you off mercilessly, which is why they can afford to pay £23 cashback.
To be avoided.

Mine tracked at £25 so sent some £3 earings from Argos that had never been worn - got my payment this morning a whole 5p. But I returned the pack so the quidco should pay.
Did anyone else do this??

Well I have an engagement ring, gold necklace and bracelet... Total weight an ounze, without ring as it has diamond and a saphire in it - bracelet and necklace alone would weigh 7/8 so with ring it tops it up to 1oz. Do you think it will be worth anything?

If your seriously considering selling it theirs some things on MSE about it as these companies pay very little.
I only sent something off for the £25 quidco.

Try a jewellery shop first? will get a much better price than sending off in an envelope.

I sent a couple of thin broken gold chains and some odd silver earing back in November and got a cheque for £5 something.
The cashback was showing as tracked until this weekend when it has come up as declined!!
I don`t rememeber reading that you had to send a certain weight or anything (except on here after I`d sent it) ..... is there anything I can do?

you can put an enquiry in and state that no weight was specified when you clicked though from quidco

Cash4gold offered me £57. I asked for it back and got £170 from a local jeweller.

I've been looking at this, I may have some things at home that I can get rid of just to get the cashback (its not worth very much, don't worry!).
It says that 10grams of gold has to be sent for the cashback - does this have to be 10 grams of gold, or can i send a gold plated necklace/bracelet that weighs over 10 grams? The cashback terms aren't very specific! I'm worried that I'll only get 50p for something I send in when I'm only really doing it for the cashback.

Just watching TV and they said that CFG and others are paying 6% of retail value of the gold, high street ( Pawnbrokers etc ) 17% and jewellers 25% ( but jewellers won't take broken/damaged items )
so lets say they offer you £30 you would be likely to get £85 - £130 elsewhere even with the cashback it isn't worth it !

I'm expecting mine will be worth less than a fiver, thats why I'm after the cashback :)

Jewellers will take broken/damaged items and will buy it in as "scrap" and then re-use it by melting it down.
It may just be a case of trying around various jewellers though as some may not want "scrap".
The above is certainly true of someone I know who owns a jewellers so hope it helps someone :)
