This will apply to Bradford & Bingley ; Abbey ; Alliance & Leicester and others that were formely called by those names.

The bank's UK customers can now also use Santander cash machines in Spain for free.

Great if you are going on holiday - presume that this would also include Canary Islands but might be worth checking

Whoop whoop, thanks for the heads up, I have an abbey and a A&L account, was going to ditch abbey but might be worth holding on to for holidays at least

Where did you get this info from Gizmos? as I was just checking this on A&L website and also on MSE and no mention. Just want to make sure before we go away at Easter.

What charges apply if I use a Santander Cash Machine in Spain?

All main adult Bank accounts (those which are credited with at least 1,000 per month) could benefit from free cash machine withdrawals in Spain. Simply use your Santander Debit Card in a Santander branded cash machine in Spain to receive the withdrawal fee free. This means: No Cash Handling Fee AND No Foreign Exchange Fee will be charged.

Also worth a mention is the Nationwide which gives its account holders free withdrawals in Europe, it also gives you a business exchange rate.
