Been looking on the flying club website, some offers are pretty obvious eg 4 miles/1 spent but for some of the one off offers for 100's or 1000's of miles its not so obvious what you need to buy. eg would a contents policy with Hiscox really earn you 9600 miles???

That would be fab as you only need 10,000 for an upgrade to premium class! :clap2:

can only upgrade on certain flight codes though (not the cheapest economy code etc) and not on any flight booked with Virgin Holidays

Yes, not such a good deal, I have 50,000 miles that I haven't used. Even when they have the half price redemption that mean I could buy two returns to new york with these miles, I still had to pay for the taxes and surcharges, these still worked out more expensive than buying them through my friend who works at BA (they have a friends and family hotline)! And using them to upgrade means buying really expensive tickets as the above poster states!

bummer... I know when I looked economy flights that could then be upgraded using miles (man to orlando) the return cost of the flights for economy each was just under 1900 so really dear for 4 of us lol!

When you book your train tickets with Virgin train simply quote your flying card number & you get 2 miles per 1 spend on train tickets..pretty good considering Virgin train has deserted Quidco.

I aim to get 150,000 virgin miles by next year or possibly 200,000 miles. I have a plan and i currently have 91,000 miles and OH is on 29,000.

Plan involves Virgin Atlantic Amex , paypal top up card and Virgin Poker. I also got the 20,000 bonus via the Amercan Express gold Card.

To my reckoning its you need to flying Upper Class or at least Premium Economy to make these miles worthwhile, as the taxes are the same no matter what class you fly in.
