Hi All,

I hope this is of some help to someone. Last month I embarked on an ambitious round of cashback chasing from the various gambling sites. I used to work in the betting industry some years ago and have no interest in actual gambling now, but, these are excellent cashback amounts which you can gain for the smallest risk. I'm just going to post a quick method which allows you to (legally and within all T&C's) rack up a healthy Quidco balance with almost zero risk. The example I will use is EurosportBET but the method works equally well with all other bookmakers. If you don't have a Betfair account, I recommend opening one via Quidco and following a similar procedure first to snag their cashback offer too.

1. Go to Quidco and click-through to EurosportBet.
2. Find a football match (avoid Tennis due to injury retirement rules)
3. Back the favourite team to win - in this example Brazil tonight @ 1.08
4. Stake £10 on this outcome @ 1.08, you will make 83p profit if Brazil win
5. Mitigate the risk that Brazil do not get the job done!
6. Go to www.betfair.com (see note above re: cashback for new accounts)
7. Find the same market
8. LAY Brazil for £9.00 (currently laying at 1.13)

Here's the clever part. Wait for the game to finish and here is what each result means for you.

i) Brazil win: You receive 83p from EurosportBET but pay out a loss of £1.17 on Betfair. Net loss is 34p.

ii) Draw. You lose your £10 stake at Eurosport BET but make £9 from Betfair. Net loss is £1.

iii) Brazil lose: You lose your £10 stake at Eurosport BET but make £9 from Betfair. Net loss is £1.

So, for a loss of at most £1 but probably 34p, you have gained £25 cashback from this company. There are plenty of sites on there, offering similar deals and you can repeat this process until you have been through all of them. Take care with T&C's some expect you to bet at a certain minimum odds, however, with the Betfair system working as mitigation, the cost is still exceedingly low (<40p).

Any questions etc, please get in touch. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea but I hope someone finds it useful.

Sam.

I did some matched betting last year following a thread over on MSE at the start of last year and you can really make a lot of money snatching these free bets. BUT please dont gamble what you cant afford to lose, as accidents do happen and sometimes the bet may not be layed properly (offset at Betfair) and it could cost you.

Very well said, PK.

Not only that, but if you're trying to get the free bets from the company, then you need to watch the T&C's as there are usually minimum odds levels like 1.5 or evens.

Ok - heres my experience :)

I joined ceasers bingo via quidco - if you bet and wager £10 you get £20 cashback via quidco - on top of the £10 I got a 200% bonus match - therefore £30 to spend on the bingo, Anyway long story short I have managed to bank £40 from the bingo (winnings) nd £20 from quidco - so £50 profit :D
even if you dont win anything you will still be £10 in profit thanks to quidco - and have a bit of fun on the bingo with the potential to win :)

I don't understand the laying a bet bit.
At the moment on eurosportbet, it is 1.57 for germany to win against serbia.
On betfair laying this bet is 1.71 at the moment. I don't understand what amount I would need to bet on betfair.
Would I lay just over £5.70, if the original bet was for £10?

Sorry but this is far too anal! Have a bit of fun! Live a little. You have nothing to lose.

Eurosportbet £25 cashback if you wager £10. So think of it as £15 back and a chance to win a bit more, and if you don't win you have made £15 anyway. That's what I did, put £10 on a draw in the Ivory Coast v Portugal and they drew, so now I have £30 plus if my cashback goes thru (as nothing showing grrrrr) I will get £25 so a total of £45 up!

Ok by doing all this laying business you get your money back or lose a pound here or there but where is the fun in that? In my mind you gain anyway and get a chance to win a lot more. Take the chance and have some fun along the way in a way that means you are going to be up on the deal anyway.

There's a fair bit of money to be made by matched betting Dom but it needs to be worked out carefully. Its one of those things I've been aiming to get my head round for a couple of years but haven't .... yet

Just seems to be a safety thing Jules to ensure you don't lose, but the winnings seem meagre. I saw the 1.08 odds when I registered, seemed pointless betting on that given the risks of a shock result. Each to their own I guess it is good for free bets if you want to minimise risk of 'loss'. As I say I see Eurosportbet as £15 and a free bet.... I hasten to add I am not a betting man!

I have made a spreadsheet which calculates the level you need to lay to cover your stakes. Happy to upload after work if that helps anyone :)

So it's ok for you to have a whole thread about the ins and outs of buying a laptop, but not ok for me to ask about something I don't quite understand. You could just have gone for the first laptop you saw, and the fun would have been in seeing if it suited your requirements or not.

I think I'd need to bet £9.18, now I've thought about it some more, which would mean I'd lose about £3. I'd just like to know from someone who knows more about it. Which is clearly not you, Dom. Go and be grimpy somewhere else.

BaconBap, from the spreadsheet, here are your figures.

Back Germany @ 1.57 for £10 at Eurosport Bet
Lay Germany @ 1.71 for £8 at Betfair

If Germany win, you win 2p, if Germany lose, you lose £2.

OR

Back Germany @ 1.57 for £10 at Eurosport Bet
Lay Germany @ 1.71 for £9 at Betfair

If Germany win you lose 69p, if Germany lose you lose £1.

Add £25 cashback to your totals :D

What happens if they draw?

baconbap

Drawing is part of the laying - I know that much.
Thanks, Sam, will see if I can work out how to work it out.

Think I understand. To even out the losses and gains,it's 1.57/1.71 x 10 = 9.18 Lose about 80p whatever happens.

Just wondering if eurosportbet match your deposit if you go through quidco.

By laying a selection you only pay out if that event happens. eg if you lay Germany and the result is a draw, you win at Betfair.

But you still lose your £10 at eurobet.Which is ok on the first bet as it's free.

JUst put your money on a betfair as follows.
Bet your first bet - win germany.
Then come out and lay the same amount on lose germany.
This will cost you pennies.
You then get the cashback off betfair with no stress........

Eurobet.
Find the shortest price thing you can - could be a complete mismatch. Place your bet.
Youll get your quidders money either result, and may make a few pence.
But you'll prob get a free bet too - have that on anything you "fancy" as you don't get the stake refunded on free bets.
Shimples...

Only works if you've not already done betfair for cashback.

Me too, have read about it on MSE and did get my head round it but I found a bit frightening how easy to make a mistake and lose. There is a whole thread on MSE about people's mistakes, then there is also a long thread about someone who has made a lot of money. But then he also makes money through something called arbitraging (sp?) which again looks very interesting but with the potential for more loss because the bookies can cancel your bet. Some of my DS's friends do a lot of financial spread betting and it is surprisingly common how often it happens to them if they stand to make a lot of money!

Er who is being grimpy here?!? I was replying to op as it was first opportunity I'd had to comment on the thread. My reply was re the whole lay betting thing. I won £20 on top of getting my stake back and the cashback. With the lay betting it seems at best you break even or win a couple of quid at worst you lose a few. If that's what you want to do good luck but it just seems very dull. Was just expressing my opinion on the whole issue but if you want to take it as a personal attack then that's a shame. What on earth it has to do with me asking and taking advice re a new laptop god only knows

You made a fair comment Dom and I'm delighted you had a winner yesterday. On the whole though, expressing an endorsement for the strategy of "gamble some money on winners!" is a bit weak, if it was that easy we would all do that rather than go to work!

The method I posted in #1 may be a bit dull, and yes, you are most likely to lose a few pence on the bet by following it, but it does guarantee a net profit of at least £24 which achieves what I think is what we are all on PTS for - to maximise our returns at the lowest risk!

Implementing the same methodology on the 10+ websites which pay cashback offers a very healthy guaranteed return in the 3 figure range.

No I get what you are saying and each to their own (which is what I said all along). I just think 'I have to spend £10 to get £25 back so at worst I gain £15 free money'. I am happy with that. My £10 bet is then a no cost gamble and whatever happens I am £15 up.

I appreciate the lay betting allows you to minimise loss, but in my mind I am not losing anyway as I am £15 up IYSWIM.

I can see as a longer term strategy there is clearly money to be made in lay betting if you can be bothered to do it. Its not for me as it seems a lot of faff but again each to their own, what is one mans (womans) faff is another ones holiday fund ;)

I did a 3-way bet in the end using eurosportbet still giving £25 via topcashback (and it's tracked), £20 moneyback bet with 888sports and also betfair. Profit of £12.50 and £25 cashback and I've had £10.50 also from the first of the free bet money from eurosport. So £48 up so far with about 9 more free bets to go.

With thanks to sam for his help.
