Good thread Brit. I have been meaning to ask the question since trying one in NY. It was fab :) but wanted to wait for reviews and to see if there are any teething problems before taking the plunge.

But I don't have an iphone either........:p
Honest I'm right deprived I am.
Would also be interested in the iPad as an e-book reader and wouldn't like to do that on an iPhone.

They are basically a large screen - like Giz says, a large iphone without a phone! But to use one for working you'd surely need a stand and a case so then you have the bulk of a laptop?

The one thing that puts me off is touch screen.... I can type (and could do texts) on a keyboard/normal phone but on the iphone obviously there is no 'feel' so you have to constantly look at the keys. Touch typists or two fingered typists who type fast usually can type accurately with very little need to look at the keyboard. I do find the need to give visual concentration to where your fingers are going as well as the normal looking at what you have typed very wearing.

But for apps and games etc the touch screen would be brill.

I'd personally still go for a laptop than an ipad, partly on cost but also for practicality re the keyboard.

I think I need to look at one really. Where are they? They seem to be pretty difficult to get hold of.

Do you have an Apple shop near you? Thats where I had a go of one.

Will have a search. Course I can't actually get out to the shops which complicates matters slightly....
