Hiya :help:

Very new to Quidco, so bear with me. I did the RAC offer thing (See MSE) through Quidco yesterday then noticed (too late!) that the cashback only applied to annual payers, and not monthly, which I'd taken out. I thought "you silly moo" and decided I'd cancel within the cooling off period.

Today, though, I got a confirmation email form Quidco - does that mean I will get the cashback or not?

:confused::confused:

Hi Nixx

What stage are you at now? Did you cancel and then take out the annual policy in the end?

In answer to the email from quidco - that tends to just mean the transaction has 'tracked' (ie they know about it) but it doesn't mean you'll get the cashback. It can be declined once they realised you cancelled the policy.

No, I've not cancelled it. I don't want an annual one though. I just wondered if having the tracking email meant that monthly ones did actually qualify too.

Hmm quite possible then, but again just because it tracked doens't mean it will eventually pay out. I suppose if you wanted it anyway it would be worthing keeping it.

First thing; the MSE offer finished on the 31st, it's now £20 back on the £28 policy.

I have heard of quidco paying out when their preffered form of payment has not been used (Mags subs), but I wouldn't risk it unless you do want cover anyway.

Thanks MomaBee and caravan. The price on the page was £40, but limited to annual payments. I just wondered if I'd still get it seeing as they sent the email confirming tracking. I guess I'll just wait and see, seeing as I did need the policy anyway.

Thanks again.

If i were you - i'd cancel the policy and take one out with a different (and much cheaper supplier) - if you go onto moneysupermarket.com they compare all of the firms - RAC is VERY expensive - and they all give the same sort of cover.
My GF used to do RAC (via clubcard points etc) but we smashed the price by using another firm (the name escapes me but it's on Quidco) was about £35 for the year with homestart!

But it's not just about price is it? I could buy a few vans and set up a breakdown company and charge £30 a year.....

Green Flag and Brittania have consistently high ratings. Also check if they only recover you to a nearby garage as if you are miles from home this may not be the most convenient option. Also AA relay used to spend ages taking you from one depot to another (not sure if they still do that) which isn't ideal if you just want to get to your location asap. Lots of things to consider.

Thanks both - yes Dom, I'm happy with what the RAC provide and where car breakdown's concerned (i.e. where I haven't a clue!) I'd rather pay for the experts. I was with Green Flag until recently, and while I've been lucky enough not to need them for a breakdown, their call centre staff were shocking when I rang to make some changes to the policy, to the extent that I decided to jump ship because I couldn't trust them to find me on a computer, never mind broken down on a B road in the middle of nowhere!
