I have just renewed my contents insurance with axa ppp, up to £60,000 with just basic accidental damage to sanitary ware and glass etc, cost £55 and it has already tracked at £32 with quidco. Axa were the cheapest, a reputable company and we never bother with accidental damage as if you claim for lots of things it puts your premium up. I thought this was an absolute bargain without the cashback!

Having worked for years in a large insurance company I personally wouldnt recommend additional AD for contents, but would for buildings.

I've seen so many people make 2/3 claims for things like spills on carpets - which they will always now try and just have cleaned for you, and then something goes really wrong and they get burgled, 3 claims in 2 years pretty much everyone will decline you and your own company will hike the premium up loads. Unless you have very expensive carpets, i wouldnt bother! Standard AD on contents actually covers quite a bit

I would recommend adding personal belongings away from home if you have any jewellery worth a bit that you wear. Again, spoke to lots of people in floods of tears as they didnt realise their wedding/engagement ring not covered out the house!
