View Full Version : Which Airport Lounge To Use With Free Amex Tickets?

I have 2 free airport lounge tickets, and there are 3 of us travelling. I want to make the best use of them.

Travelling from Heathrow Terminal 5 outbound - flight is at 14.20, so will be looking to get to airport by 11am at latest.

Inbound is from Barcelona (El Prat) Terminal 1. Could have a lengthy wait, as our cruise gets in in the morning, and our flight isn't until 19.20. :(
Would like to see some of Barcelona, but not sure how practical it is with all our luggage, so not entirely sure what we're going to do for all that time!

Which would be best place to use passes? Have never used an airport lounge before - is there a dress code? Can kids go in (there is me, DS15 and DD14).

Any help appreciated!

What kind of lounge tickets are they? Are they through priority pass or Lounge club?

I doubt you will be able to use them at T5 as T5 only has BA lounges and there's no way to "buy" tickets into those, you only get in if you have a shiny status card or are traveling business class.

For Barcelona, it looks like you have a choice of a few lounges if it is Priority pass.

Normally these type of things allow you+1 guest, so the 2nd guest might need to be paid for (usually 10-15), or they might let you use both passes to get you all in.

There is no dress code.

Its from the American Express Preferred Rewards Club - just had a look on website and it says Lounge Club.

baconbap, I really want to see some of Barcelona, its just a question of how to do it with luggage!

Hmm, well, just googled after Pans helpful post (had no idea there was more than one "type") and seems that can't use my passes at either place.

Fat lot of good they are then!!

Are you sure?

According to this you should be able to use one of these 3:

That's why I posted a link on where to store your luggage

Ahh, for some reason I didn't find those when I looked! I guess I will need to email them to see how much a 3rd person would cost to get in, as we only have 2 tickets.

Totally missed that, thanks! Think I will print that off to take with me!

We have used the ones you get from AE before and they were fine with my 12 year old going it: she loved it she had a massage whilst she was there! Both me and OH have them so we can take +1 but if we want to take in more we pay 15 per person which I think is well worth it.

If each ticket allows up to 2 people, you could probably give both and get 3 of you in.

I'm a little confused though, I'm assuming you got these through the Amex Gold card?

They sent me an actual plastic card, not paper tickets. What do your tickets look like?

I have a silver card valid for 2 entries to a lounge.
I thought it was only valid for me and any guests had to be paid for.
Does this mean I could use it once for me and OH?

Won't the cruise company collect your luggage the night before docking and you collect them at Heathrow? thus leaving you only hand luggage to carry.

yes, it's for two entries if it's from the amex preferred card

No, I haven't booked airfare through the cruise company. Shame!
