    Default Walks around Avebury anyone

Hi my sisters and I are planing a 10 mile walk in April around Avebury stone

circle and loosely around the surrounding area has anyone done this or lives

nearby who could answer a few questions.

Is it well sign posted ? (so we wont get lost )

Is it easy to work out your own route ?

Is there a pub or somewhere we can get a snack when we're on route ?

I know there are routes on the Internet we could follow, but they are always

easy when you know the area as we've found out on our travels many times

really after a bit of local knowledge if possible.

    Thanks Teresa

    Ah, THAT Silbury Hill.

Off topic: The Folk/Rock group Silbury Hill is also worth a look. Have a look and listen at http://www.reverbnation.com/silburyhill.

Their next gig is at Southend Pier. Is it just a coincidence that one of the duo, Scott, is I believe in charge of Tourism for Southend on Sea Council? He's obviously giving 110% to the job.

Avebury and area is brilliant,as long as not wet+windy!,if you are N Trust member Avebury manor well worth visit,Silbury Hill and Kennet Long Barrow, also not too far away, walks are signposted and away from roads.

I went to this area about 10 years ago when i did an archeology course and agree the area is brilliant, I loved it so much I want to take my three sisters back with me for a weekend(a bonding kind of thing)just trying to make sure I dont take on to much and get us lost.

So any advise is more than welcome
