    Default New Alzheimers Scan

Just thought it would be interesting to know, all the news about the new Alzheimers scan that David Cameron is announcing today is about a product that I make!!
No pressure on us to get it right tomorrow for such a high profile scan.

Top story on news is the g8 summit on Alzheimer's. On sky news website (and some others) it mentions the first scan at Charing cross hospital. We are contracted to make the drug by Eli Lilly. If all goes well with our production I think there will be something on the news again tomorrow all about the scan.

It's such a devastating illness, both for the sufferer and those around them, anything new that can be done needs to be welcomed with open arms.

Well I don't know if you saw the news last night on BBC at 10. There was a big article where they had the patient 'Ros Davis', being the first patient to be scanned at Imperial (Charing Cross). This was the first patient dose in Europe that wasn't for a clinical trial to show if someone can be diagnosed with not having Alzheimer's (a negative scan proved no Alz, positive doesn't prove there is Alz). I'm really chuffed as I've just taken over at the site as manager and the process of making the drug is so complex it could have gone wrong at any point. There was so much pressure after Dave Cameron decided to mention it was happening.

If you or a relative have a PET scan for cancer there is a 50/50 chance I made it, if its for Alzheimers its 100% chance. I sincerely hope I don't have to make these drugs for anyone you know, but if I do, all the best and I hope it helps towards a treatment.
