Default best place/places to take children abroad using deals

Hi,
Any help here will be greatly appreciated. We want a holiday abroad this year around October time but we don't know where to go with two young children and can only really afford to do it using deals.
What are people's experiences of various resorts? We don't mind where we go as long as it isn't too far, plenty for the kids to do and historically interesting for the parents too. Not too tall an order I hope!
Thanks.

You can order the cosmos and virgin brochures from their website, thats what I've just done for next year hopefully. Have a good old read of them and see what takes your fancy.

It really depends on lots of things, like how much you are spending, weather, length of flights, interests etc.
Our first family holiday was to Majorca, and it was perfect for us, but it might not have suited you. Like mamzie says, do a bit of research then come back and folks will be better able to advise. Part of the fun is in the planning
One good tip though, all inclusive is great for a first time, when you are on a budget, especially with kids.

Thanks both I will have another look. I am just daunted by the whole prospect of taking them abroad I suppose.

We always found October to be perfect for weather with the kids in Majorca, and Spanish mainland (Salou and Benidorm). Canaries would be fine too in October.

Spie . . . don't be daunted - not for one moment . . .

Millions of families holiday abroad every year . . . . look at it as a wonderful opportunity to experience new things (with your children)

I regard every day as something special - - and try and get something special out of every day

Go and pick a travel agents brain if you're really starting from scratch hun. They match people to hols all the time. Just don't let on you've no intention of booking with them

You're right! I will do that this week. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself.

There's French Life, for the next few months at any rate - there are a handful of Center Parcs in France that you can book through them. We went to the one in the Loire Valley in October last year, when I was able to sit in the hot tub/jacuzzi-thing and watch the snow!

We went to Rhodes mid-September last year. Although we have not got small children any more, there seemed to be quite a few little ones around.
The Greeks seem very fond of young children, which was lovely. The weather was really lovely, yet not blistering hot. Some families at our hotel had their tots asleep in pushchairs in the evening, which seemed quite nice, as in our hotel their was plenty of room, as the season was nearly over, so the evenings were not too noisy or crowded.
The flight was just over three hours, from Gatwick, so not too bad. Although the flight home was in the early hours, which must have been hard-going for the parents.

Safe beaches, child friendly hotels and restaurants. I loved Rhodes and cannot wait to go back
