Hubby and I have kindly been given a pass by his mum and have three nights to ourselves at the end of Oct. For weeks/months i've been looking at options but I just can't seem to make my mind up about where to go. DH fancied a country inn weekend whereas I had a sunny beach break in mind. Being the end of Oct we'll be lucky to get that anywhere not long haul but I was thinking poss Italy. I've also been told Alicante can still be nice at this time. We're on a definate budget so I was hoping to use my points for the accomodation. I'm looking at Almeria, Mallorca and Ibiza via Barcelo (cheap flights) but wondered if anyone had any tips or ideas? I'd love to stay right on the beach or at least overlooking one as my only requirement so far is that I want to wake up to the sound of the surf. My one problem seems to be that every time I think of somewhere I find myself thinking of how much the kids would enjoy it which is obviously not the idea of this trip! Thanks in advance x |

dont think of the kids this is for you.
For my 30th my inlaws had the children and we had a weekend away in the Lakes - it was lovely but strange - we could go have a drink in a pub at night - no nappies bags etc. Felt really strange a but good hope you find somewhere and enjoy |

How about Barcelona? It has a beach area not too far from the centre IIRC. We were there a few years ago during an October Half-Term and I remember being able to sit out for a drink in the evening.

Yes I think you need to take it a step at a time. Just do an overnighter or a weekend 1st to see how it feels, maybe you need several weekends away before it feels OK.
Plan were you are going to stay, where to eat and your activities even if its only a nice walk. I still have massive problems when we are away. So much of the normal day is eaten up by the normal domestic stuff - cleaning, washing, cooking, shopping I find it hard to get to grips with doing nothing.
